Course Description
Painting students often focus on difficult subject matter- trees, buildings and surfaces- and forget that light is as real as any object.  It is where all color originates and is the revealer of form.  Without light there can be nothing to paint.  For impressionists, LIGHT is the subject matter.
Join award-winning artist, Dianna Shyne in this fast paced, exciting two-day workshop. Participants will learn how to identify the color, direction, and intensity of the light in their subject, as well as how to interpret that light in color, value and edges.  Dianna Shyne offers easy to practice tools that allow the mysteries of painting light to be unlocked. The workshop will include lectures, instructor demos, hand-outs, gentle critiques, and plenty of time to explore and paint.
Additional subjects to be covered:
  • Intensity, color, angle and direction of light
  • The secret of shadows
  • Simple color tools to create atmospheric distance.
  • Color theory …the next steps
  • How to mix the exact color you want in four easy steps
  • Manage your mixtures so you can recreate them whenever you want.
  • Turn your palette into a powerful painting machine
  • Getting the most out of your acrylic paint.
(Friday evening Lecture and Slideshow: Air and Light, Creating Distance with Atmosphere  is free to workshop participants or tickets to the slideshow only can be purchased seperately for non-workshop participants)
