Date: June 12-14, 2020, 3-Day Workshop
Do you experience difficulties in mixing the colors you see in nature? Are your paintings pasty white, bland, and dull? Do they capture the light key? Wisconsin artist Paula Swaydan Grebel will address these topics in this 3-day workshop and teach the student how to perceive and paint using a full-spectrum palette. Students will concentrate on the development of a strong start in color. The class will focus on expressing the big masses and light key. With painting knives, students master how to mix that color. Each session will start with a demonstration. Following the daily demo, students will paint a color study in the morning, then two color studies in the afternoon.
Day one, the class will paint from an indoor still-life set-up. Days two and three, weather permitting, we take the class outside for further still-life work and to tackle the landscape.
